3G Development in China June 21-27

- Anticipating increasing demand for 3G phones during the summer vacation, Chinese telecom operator China Telecom have revealed their promotional activities. China Telecom is set to kick off the promotion activities to sell 700 million CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) phones in over 60 phone models developed by 17 mobile phone manufacturers before August 31, 2010, the Xinhua News reported on June 25. Under the promotion plan, China Telecom will collaborate with mobile phone makers, distributors, and retailers nationwide to sell CDMA phones developed by 17 companies, including Nokia, Samsung, LG, Huawei, ZTE, Coolpad, Beijing Tianyu, and Hisense, according to the same source.

 

During the promotion period, consumers who purchase any phones from abovementioned mobile phone manufacturers and subscribe to China Telecom's e-Surfing service will be entitled to enter a lucky draw, with a chance of winning another CDMA phone. China Telecom stated that a total of 16,000 CDMA phones will be given away as lucky draw prizes. At the same time, China Telecom will also establish 100 CDMA mobile phone experience sections, 1,000 CDMA phone selling sections, and 10,000 3G phone concessions. Further details regarding the pricing were not yet disclosed.
